I see weddings where a few thousands of dollars went into the flowers that will be thrown away shortly after the big day. The cake will cost upwards or over a thousand dollars, and except for the top that will be frozen for a year (it's good-luck to eat from the wedding cake on the first anniversary. It's worked for us so far and I've been married fifteen years). And the wedding gown that costs a couple of thousand dollars and will likely never be worn again. And a DJ or band that costs a few thousand dollars, but the music fades into the evening. Where am I going with this? These same weddings that had budgets in the tens of thousands of dollars put the Photography and Video at the end, cutting them first, when they would be creating the memories of the wedding that will be looked at ten, twenty, even fifty years later. The bottom line (and it's always about the bottom line), don't plan a $20,000 wedding and only allocate $3000 to the photography and videography that will last forever. Like the marriage. Your memories deserve better.
